Understanding the behavior of your audience as they move through your funnels is crucial for optimizing your results. This is where Google Analytics comes into play: Google's tracking tool can be integrated with Funner to provide you with useful, actionable insight. This blog post will walk you through the integration process step by step.

Let's dive in!

  1. Set Up Google Analytics 4
  2. Integrate Google Analytics with Your ClickFunnels Account
  3. Verify Integration and Set Up Goals
  4. Final Thoughts

Before we dig in I want to show you something. I promise it's worth it...

Google Analytics is great, but also complex and a bit clunky. If you just want a straightforward dashboard with the insights you need, GA is not a great place to start. Additionally, Google doesn't care about privacy and GA requires an annoying cookie banner.

That's why I built Simple Analytics, a privacy-friendly and simple analytics tool - no personal data, no cookies, just the insights you need in a straightforward dashboard.

Here is how it looks vs GA. Feel free to check our live analytics to get an idea for your project. (It is free btw)

All right, enough about us. Now let's get into answering your question!

Can you spot the difference between the dashboards?

Set Up Google Analytics 4

The first step in integrating Google Analytics with ClickFunnels is to ensure that you have a Google Analytics property set up. Here's how to set it up:

  • Head over to the Google Analytics website and log in with your Google account. If you don't already have an account, you'll need to create one.
  • Follow the steps to add a new property to your account, making sure to choose "Web" as your platform.
  • Complete the setup process for your website, and Google will provide you with a Measurement ID (beginning with "G-"). Keep this ID handy.

Integrate Google Analytics with Your ClickFunnels Account

Once you have your Google Analytics 4 property set up, the next step is to integrate it with ClickFunnels. Here's how:

  • Log into your ClickFunnels account and navigate to the funnel you wish to track.
  • Go to the Settings tab for that funnel.
  • Scroll down to the Head Tracking Code section.
  • Paste the GA4 tracking code (the entire script provided by Google Analytics, not just the Measurement ID) into this section.

The tracking code should start with something like <script async src="https://www.googletagmanager.com/gtag/js?id=G-XXXXX"></script> followed by a script that includes gtag('config', 'G-XXXXX'); where 'G-XXXXX' is your Measurement ID.

-Save your changes. This step ensures that Google Analytics will start collecting data on how users interact with your funnel.

Verify Integration and Set Up Goals

After integrating Google Analytics with ClickFunnels, it's essential to verify that the integration is working correctly and that GA is collecting data. You can do this by visiting your funnel's URL and then checking Realtime reports in Google Analytics to see if your visit is recorded.

Final Thoughts

Adding Google Analytics to your funnels can give you great insights. However, ask yourself: is Google Analytics the right tool for you?

GA is an overpowered solution for straightforward analytics. If you're looking for a simple and intuitive dashboard with the insights you need, there are better alternatives. Yes, I’m talking about my own product (Simple Analytics), but there are others out there as well.

I hated using Google Analytics for my projects. It's clunky, there are hundreds of dashboards and it doesn't look appealing. Also Google doesn't care about privacy or ethics. That's why I decided to build my own and more intuitive web analytics tool.

If this resonates with you, feel free to give Simple Analytics a spin. You just need to add the script and off you go. This takes about one minute- and there is a free version as well!

Enjoy!
