Matomo is a powerful, configurable analytics platform you set up and maintain. Simple Analytics is a hosted product focused on simplicity, with no cookies and no personal data by default. Matomo gives you control. We give you clarity without the work.
Isn’t Matomo also privacy-friendly?
Matomo can be configured to be privacy-friendly, but the default install uses cookies and stores IP addresses. To remove the consent banner you need to anonymize IPs, disable cookies, and adjust several other settings. Simple Analytics is compliant out of the box.
Do I need to host anything?
No. Simple Analytics is fully hosted on EU infrastructure. There are no servers, updates, or backups for you to manage. Matomo offers self-hosted and cloud options, both of which add operational work or cost.
Can I import my Matomo data?
We don’t have a one-click Matomo import yet, but you can export your historical data from Matomo and contact support to discuss bringing it into Simple Analytics.
Does Simple Analytics support events and goals?
Yes. You can track custom events and set up goals to measure conversions, downloads, outbound links, and other interactions, all from the same simple dashboard.
How does the script size compare?
Simple Analytics ships a script under 5 KB. Matomo’s tracking script is several times larger and adds noticeable weight to every page load.
Where is my data stored?
All data is processed and stored within the European Union, on European-owned infrastructure. We don’t use US cloud providers.
How does pricing compare?
