Your time zone
Simple Analytics estimates your country from your browser's time zone, not your IP address. A VPN won't change this, because we read the setting directly from your device.

Frequently asked questions
Why VPNs don't change this
Most analytics tools guess your country from your IP address. VPNs spoof that, so those tools often show the wrong country. Simple Analytics reads your time zone straight from the browser instead, using the same API your clock uses, so the result reflects where your device is set, not where your traffic exits on the network.
How we map time zones to countries
Your browser reports a time zone from the IANA time zone database. We match that name to a country. Almost every country is covered, but some time zones are shared across borders or missing from our mapping. A small number of visitors may then be tagged under the wrong country.
